DAY TWENTY-NINE - The Purge (horror movie challenge - 31 days of horror)

DAY TWENTY-NINE - THE PURGE (2013)

This movie gets me so excited! Such a damn original and awesome idea. In 2010 "The New Founding Fathers of America" established a new government and police state. They use the 28th amendment that establishes one night a year a purge will occur. This means all crime is legal and all emergency services are unavailable for 12 hours. So from 7pm until 7am there are no rules regarding the general public. The purge has caused crime and unemployment rates to plummet to 1% and created a strong economy.

James, who is played by Ethan Hawke, designs and sells elaborate security systems designed specifically for the Purge night. His family and himself are ready for the night of the Purge as they live in a very safe home. He has his wife Mary (Lena Headey) and his two kids. But this Purge, the son notices a wounded man outside calling for help, he makes a quick decision and allows the man inside the house. But unfortunately that wounded man was the target of a group of young adults who are wearing masks and wielding weapons, and they're pretty pissed that the family helped him escape the Purge. The leader warns them that if they don't surrender within an hour, the house will be broken into and everyone will be murdered. James then has to admit that although the house looks safe, it actually isn't any safer than the regular house, the system is used more as a deterrent than actually keeping you safe. And so the family has a tough decision to make, and 12 hours to fight for their lives.

The Purge was written and directed by James DeMonaco. Although it's not super scary as in "jump scares", it leaves you with a sense of dread that's hard to get out of a movie. There are scary moments, but they're stereotypical ones that any horror fan would spot from a mile away. The acting is on point and there's a bit of a twist at the end which I didn't see coming but enjoyed immensely.

There is a sequel, The Purge: Anarchy which I enjoyed almost even more. But the franchise is a great one, and I've heard rumblings of the third coming soon so jump onto the Purge bandwagon now! 8/10

Two more movies! Psycho and Halloween. HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!!!!!!! (I might actually go to a halloween party tonight - shocking, I know.)

Stay spooky!

DAY TWENTY-EIGHT - Sinister (horror movie challenge - 31 days of horror)

DAY TWENTY-EIGHT - SINISTER (2012)

Such a creepy and original film! I was enthralled when this movie came out because it just seemed so fresh and spooky. And boy did I get scared the first time I watched. I was jumping through the damn roof at about 4 am while I watched it on my laptop huddled under a blanket. Sinister quickly became one of my go-to horror films and I love recommending it to newbies.

Sinister was directed by Scott Derrickson (Devil's Knot and Deliver us from Evil) and stars Ethan Hawke as Ellison who is a true-crime writer. He moves his family to a new town and a new house to write about a new crime. What he doesn't mention to his family is that he's moved them into the house where the murder occurred. Shortly after moving in he finds a box of video reels in the attic and watches them, on the films are horrific murders of families. After some investigation he believes the crime he's there to investigate is in fact tied to all of these murders and that perhaps he's looking at a serial killer. Excited, he teams up with a dorky and adorable police officer who is a huge fan of Ellison, and the two of them discover that this is not some crazed serial killer...but a child stealing deity.

The pagan deity is named Bughuul and he's known for killing entire families but taking one of their children into his horrible realm in order to consume their soul. But now that Ellison has watched the movies and discovered Bughuul, the demon is after him. He's decided Ellison and his family are his next meal.

Bughuul remains incredibly creepy throughout the film because you only ever catch glimpses of him - hiding in the bushes, a smear on the computer screen etc. The scares start off subtle and progress into straight up jumpy moments by the end of the film. Hawke's portrayal of Ellison is spot on and 100% believable. His desperation to regain the fame he once had regardless of the dead families stories he is using to get there is so powerful. The struggle his own family feels as they watch him get completely absorbed in a new murder, leaving them behind. It's heartbreaking as well as terrifying.

The writer of this film C. Robert Cargill gained his inspiration from a nightmare he had where he found a film in his attic depicting a family being murdered. When creating Bughuul, Cargill wanted to re-invent the boogeyman.

What I think I enjoy most about this film is that there is a shocking lack of gore. Everything is really just left up to the imagination and it creates the most horrific scenes while watching. That's tough to pull off, but Sinister did a damn good job. Some of those murder films will haunt me forever. That lawnmower....good god, no.

I think Sinister is a great horror film. I love it dearly. Did it need a sequel? nope. Will I watch it and hate every minute of it? yes. BUT Sinister alone is fantastic and deserves a watch. 9/10

I did my presentation today! It went well I thought, everyone seemed to really enjoy it and I had a few people after come up to me for movie reccomendations and a few who were excited to watch some of the movies I talked about. Which I think is pretty great considering only two people in that room actually like horror movies. I went dressed as Jason because I'm never going to pass up a chance to wear my Jason jersey out in public. The rest of the office dressed up as French kiss which basically means you dress like a stereotypical french person but with KISS makeup. It was a great day!

Only three more movies left and then that's a wrap on October! Then only a month and some change until the new Star Wars movie.

Stay Spooky!

DAY TWENTY-SEVEN - Freddy vs. Jason (horror movie challenge - 31 days of horror)

DAY TWENTY-SEVEN – FREDDY VS. JASON (2003)
Back in 2003 I was a young 14 year old budding horror fan who had spent the last 3 years devouring every horror film I could get my hands on. And then I saw a trailer on my TV for something that could not be true….Freddy vs. Jason….WHAT?! It was a fucking nightmare come true and I was so over the damn moon about it. Because I was 14 I couldn’t go alone, my poor Dad had to join me so I could get into the film. I brought a “GO JASON” sign because I decided I wanted Jason to win and I watched with absolute delight as the film unfolded in front of me. My poor Dad hated every moment of it, but bless him for putting up with his 14 year old little girl cheering on a mentally undeveloped serial killer. It was everything I hoped for and to this day remains one of my favorite horror films. In fact, in 2013 for its ten year anniversary, I watched the movie 10 times throughout the year in its honor.

I know this movie gets a lot of flak but I don’t give a shit. I think it’s brilliant. So shut up and let me talk about it.
Freddy vs. Jason was originally titled A Nightmare on Friday the 13th, which I love just as much, it was directed by Ronny Yu (Bride of Chucky) and is obviously the amazing crossover of Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Freddy, obviously played by Robert Englund, is now unable to haunt people’s dreams and cause pain. This is because everyone in the town has forgotten about Freddy and who he is. We know that Freddy needs this power, this fear, to be strong. The parents of the town have worked hard to get the kids to forget about him, and if anyone remembers, they’re put in a mental hospital and drugged with a medication that stops them from dreaming.

gif credit
Freddy decides to manipulate Jason (played by Ken Kirzinger who I got to meet at the Rue Morgue festival and was an absolute gentlemen) and resurrects him, he uses him to cause panic in the kids by killing them. This leads the police to think that Freddy has come back and soon rumors are flying among the town. The kids are starting to remember who Freddy was and therefore he’s getting his power back. But unfortunately for Freddy, Jason is enjoying killing too much and now the two are battling for victims, with the kids in the town stuck in the middle of this horrific conflict. The final showdown happens at Camp Crystal Lake and it’s all you could’ve ever wanted as a fan of both Freddy and Jason.
It’s the last film in both franchises before both films were rebooted and is also the final appearance of Robert Englund playing Freddy. It also stars Monica Keena in the lead role of Lori, Kelly Rowland as her best friend, the always amazing Katharine Isabelle as her other best friend, and Jason Ritter as the love of her life.

Freddy vs. Jason had been planned since 1987, but due to licensing issues and studios failing to agree, it took a long time to get to us. It took more than 15 years of off-and-on planning and $6 million spent in unused scripts. Of course, there were several endings discussed but I think the one they went with does justice to everyone involved.
This is a film made for the fans. Only fans of both franchises will get anything out of this movie, if you’re coming in with new eyes it’s probably pretty stupid to watch. But I love the absolute shit out of this movie and basically know the whole thing off by heart. It also cemented my love for Jason over Freddy. I’m just such a sap, and poor Jason when Freddy is pretending to be Pamela. I was legit sobbing. Love you forever and always my spirit animal!
Anyway, I love this film to pieces. 10/10 forever and always.
Guys, I've fallen a day behind! This cold has kicked my ass to hell and back. I'm watching Sinister right now, which I was supposed to watch last night. So I might also be able to sneak in The Purge (Ethan Hawke double bill ya'll) but if not, I'll watch The Purge tomorrow along with Psycho. So, bare with me....I am so close to the finish line I can almost taste it. I'm determined. Just four more movies!!
Tomorrow is my History of Horror presentation. I just did a quick run through and I think it's going to be great. I decorated the office today for Halloween and I've got my Jason jersey all ready to go.
Wish me luck!!

Stay spooky!

DAY TWENTY-SIX - Scream (horror movie challenge - 31 days of horror)

DAY TWENTY-SIX – SCREAM (1996)
‘There are certain rules that one must abide by in order to successfully survive a horror movie. For instance,
Number one: you can never have sex.
Big no no! Big no no! Sex equals death, okay?
Number two: you can never drink or do drugs.
The sin factor! It’s a sin. It’s an extension of number one.
And number three: never, ever, ever, under any circumstances say, “I’ll be right back.” Because you won’t be back.’
Ah, Scream. In my top five favorite horror films. An absolute classic for my generation. When horror was in a funk, Scream rose up from the depths and gave fresh air to the genre. Written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven, it stars Neve Campbell as our leading lady – Sidney Prescott.
Sidney is by far my favorite Final Girl/Scream Queen. She’s the toughest and the smartest of the bunch. Scream follows Sidney, who after the brutal murder of her mother a year ago, is being stalked by a killer who claims to have committed the murder. And Sidney’s next. The killer shows up in a ghost face mask and a long dark robe, chasing her and her friends around their houses. But who is the ghostface murderer? And why is Sidney’s boyfriend so intense? And where exactly is Sidney’s Dad?

A perfect script, with a perfect twist reveal of who the killer really is. It has an amazing cast including David Arquette as the young cop, Courteney Cox as a tabloid writer turned investigator, Rose McGowan as Sidney’s sweet but dumb best friend, Skeet Ulrich as Sidney’s creepy boyfriend, Matthew Lillard as the hilarious but unpredictable best friend of Skeet, and Jamie Kennedy – the horror movie fanatic who knows all the rules of how to survive a horror movie. Which he now realizes they are all in.
Of course, Drew Barrymore is also in this movie, and put on the poster. She dies in the first ten minutes. A trick Wes thought would be fun, along with the encouragement of Drew, to fool audiences into thinking she was the lead. Paying homage to the movie Psycho in which the same thing happens.
The movie is so much fun to watch, able to poke fun at the genre while remaining scary and serious. Originally titled ‘Scary Movie’, but changed to ‘Scream’, it was released during the Christmas season. The studio had no faith in it. But something weird happened….people kept showing up. And as each weekend passed, Scream began to make more and more money, pulling in more and more people. A sequel was announced immediately and so began the Scream franchise. Scream is smart, and it was the first time in a long time that it also knew its audience was smart. It didn’t fuck around. That’s why it was so successful. It was also truly American – sweet, innocent Sidney and her beautiful friends, living in a pleasant and quaint small town, all of their homes typical big old American houses. Craven was adamant that this was the case.

Everything about this film is original and fresh. Even watching it almost twenty years later it holds up easily. I first watched this film when I was 11 and it really cemented my love of the horror genre. Although back then I was terrified and jumped and screamed through the whole film, it was the first time I had fun watching a horror film. In between scares I was laughing at the jokes and the characters. Then I’d resume screaming again. Now, I practically know the movie off by heart.
This movie will always be a 10/10 for me, and if you haven’t seen it yet, what are you doing?!? Watch this movie! So one day when the phone rings, and a creepy voice on the other end asks you, ‘what’s your favorite scary movie?’ you can answer; Scream, you asshole.

Guys, my History of Horror Presentation is in two days and I've come down with a cold. Which means my throat is swollen, which in turn swells the gums around my wisdom teeth, which basically means I am in constant pain and sound like Marge Simpson. I'm devastated. I am formally appologizing in advance to everyone who watches my presentation, I will un-ironically sound like Ghostface. Maybe it'll make it more scary?
Probably not.
I'm screwed.

Stay spooky!

DAY TWENTY-FIVE - Insidious: Chapter 3 (horror movie challenge - 31 days of horror)

DAY TWENTY-FIVE - INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER THREE (2015)

Insidious: Chapter 3 came out this year. Written and directed by Leigh Whannell in his directorial debut, it is the prequel to the first two movies. Leigh Whannell, Angus Sampson and Lin Shaye reprise their roles as our favorite trio of ghost hunters, and it stars Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott as our haunted family.
In Chapter 3 Elise is retired and refusing to use her psychic abilities as the Bride in Black from the first film has threatened to kill her. Quinn, a young teenager whose mother has passed away, reaches out to Elise because she believes her mother is haunting her apartment. Elise realizes it isn’t the spirit of the mother but an evil spirit and encourages Quinn not to talk to it.

Quinn is severely hurt after she sees the spirit waving at her from down a darkened street, so focused on him she doesn’t see the car that plows into her. She returns home a few weeks later with two broken legs and is bed ridden. But the evil spirit is alive and well inside her apartment and the attacks on her are getting worse and worse. Her Dad is struggling to believe her until he finds her one night out of bed with an injured neck after the demon had thrown her across the room. He reaches out to Elise but she still refuses to help, her fear over taking her.
The father decides to reach out to an online ghost hunting duo. But when they show up and spend the night, they realize this goes way beyond what they can handle. Elise becomes possessed and kicks off her casts, walking on her already broken legs. Luckily Elise shows up after realizing she shouldn’t let fear control her, and begins to save the day.
Was this movie as great as the first two? Not even close. But it was enjoyable as a fan of the Insidious series. Elise remains a bad ass mother fucker who doesn’t let any spirit fuck with her. The scares are strong, though the weakest of the trilogy, and the imagery remains haunting. When Quinn is laying in bed and looks over to see the evil spirit behind her curtains, I was screaming. I swear, these Insidious films are the only ones that can make me jump anymore.

The story was fine, there were no gaping plot holes that I noticed. It was fun watching how Elise met Specs and Tucker and how she convinced them to work with her. But, as far as the first two go, this one was not as great. Nothing specific….just….everything lacking a little bit.
I did enjoy the ending, which leads us directly into the first movie.

I’ll definitely watch it again, and I remain an Insidious fan. The score, the originality, the creepiness. It’s all a big win for me! 7/10

Guys! This is my 100th post! How exciting!!!! For me only. I wish I could do something special like….100 reasons why Jason Voorhees is my spirit animal. But alas, it is just a review for Insidious 3. I wonder if I’ll make it another 100? I should figure out when the anniversary of this blog is, it might be the longest thing I’ve ever accomplished. That’s what she said.
Headed into the last stretch here, Halloweek is filled with all my horror favorites. So none of these will be new to me but you can read me reminisce and get sloppy about them. Also only four more days till my presentation and I'm terrified....

Stay Spooky!

DAY TWENTY-FOUR - The Final Girls (horror movie challenge - 31 days of horror)

DAY TWENTY-FOUR - THE FINAL GIRLS (2015)

I heard about this movie awhile back and I've been super excited for it! Luckily it was totally worth the wait and was super fun to watch. The Final Girls is a horror comedy directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson and stars Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story), Adam DeVine (Workaholics), Malin Akerman (Watchmen), Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries), and Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development).

Max's mother is known for starring in Camp Bloodbath when she was younger and when she passes away, Max is invited to an anniversary screening of the movie. During the film a fire breaks out and while trying to escape through the exit behind the screen, Max and her friends are instead transported into the film itself. They quickly realize in order to make it out alive they have to survive Camp Bloodbath and kill its famous slasher - Billy.

Billy is a machete wielding, mask wearing slasher and plays homage to Friday the 13th. The film is filled with nods to the slasher genre, including all the stereotypes like the music and people dying as soon as they have sex. The film does a great job of poking fun at the genre without going overboard. It's like a good healthy mix of Scream and Cabin in the Woods.

Malin Akerman is absolutely a joy to watch and really stole all the scenes. Alia Shawkat and Adam DeVine showed off their comedy strengths keeping me laughing the whole way through. Of course, despite the comedy it's also a story of loss. Max struggles to let go of her mother and when confronted with her in this movie reality she tries extra hard to save her. But she learns that the hardest thing isn't saving her mother, it's letting her go.

The horror side of things - pretty disappointing. There could've been a lot more gore and blood, but it was very lacking on that side of things.

But it was super fun to watch and any horror fan will be able to laugh at themselves and enjoy the ride. 8/10.

Alright, I'm going to get back to carving pumpkins - I've got one left. And it's time to watch Insidious 3!

Stay Spooky!

DAY TWENTY-THREE - Housebound (horror movie challenge - 31 days of horror)

DAY TWENTY-THREE - HOUSEBOUND (2013)
Housebound is one of my favorite films ever I think. This is my second time watching it and I enjoyed it just as much. It's a 2014 horror comedy from New Zealand, written and directed by Gerard Johnstone.

Kylie gets caught trying to steal an ATM machine and it's the last strike on her record, she is sentenced to house arrest and has to return home to live with her mom, Miriam, and her step dad, Graeme. Kylie doesn't get along with either of them and spends a lot of time moping around the house and being a brat. Miriam plays a mom so damn well. Just everything about her and the way she talks is completely on point. She's absolutely hilarious. And Graeme who barely says anything is just as funny.
Another character is the security contractor, Amos, who tracks Kylie's house arrest bracelet. When Kylie learns that her mother thinks the house is haunted she relentlessly teases her. But soon after she begins to experience the hauntings too. When her house arrest bracelet goes off for no reason, Amos shows up. To everyone's surprise he's also a paranormal investigator, and so the madness begins.

Kylie and Amos learn that the house Kylie grew up in used to be a sort of half-way house/hospital for the mentally unstable youth. A young girl was violently murdered in Kylie's room. As the two begin to dig deeper they begin to suspect Kylie's creepy neighbor was the murderer.

I won't say much more because the twist in the movie is absolutely hilarious and unexpected.

Housebound's got that really dry wit that I find so hilarious and every single character, no matter how small a role, does a fantastic job.

The acting is pheneomenal and the story is perfect. It's an absolute joy to watch. Although it is quite a hilarious movie, there is a lot of blood and gore, and some jumpy parts. So it's definitely more horror than comedy.

I love this movie, you will too, I love it so much I named my blog after it. Go watch it! 10/10

So I didn't make it to Fright Nights, the damn trains in this city are so useless lately and they were broken down. Instead I carved my first pumpkin and watched my movie.

It's Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas!

Now today I will carve the other three pumpkins and watch two horror movies so I'm back on track. Tomorrow begins Halloweek and I am so freakin' excited!

On Halloween night my besti Brenna is joining me for the annual watching of Halloween. This will be her first time watching it so I'll be interested to get her feedback!

Stay Spooky!

DAY TWENTY-TWO - The Guest (horror movie challenge - 31 days of horror)

I'm a day behind and coming to you live from a laundromat! Thursday night I was supposed to watch The Guest but instead got distracted by a documentary Mitch turned on about aliens on the moon. So last night I thought, perfect, I'll just watch two movies. Instead, I watched half of The Guest, had it turned off for the Jays game, then finished it, then watched My Name is Earl.
BUT! Now I'm only a day behind. And it's Saturday so I've got all afternoon to watch two horror films. And tomorrow I'm doing absolutely nothing except carving pumpkins - so I'll be all caught up no problem.
Tonight I'm going to Fright Nights, which is our local haunted house place with like 5 haunts and rides and food and stuff so I'm pretty excited!

DAY TWENTY-TWO - THE GUEST (2014)

More thriller than horror, directed by Adam Wingard (You're Next) and starring Dan Stevens. It follows David, a war veteran who has arrived at the house of a family whose son died in the war. David lets them know that their son Caleb asked him to take care of them in case he died. The family welcomes him in, especially the mother, Mrs. Peterson. There are two kids, Luke and Anna. Luke becomes fond of David very quickly after David destroys Luke's bullies. Anna starts to fall for him. But then people around the family keep dying and Anna begins to look into who David really is, only to find out that "David" had died a week prior in a fire. Now the military are involved and David is panicking.

gif credit
The overall tone of this film was wonderful - a great score, beautiful imagery, a haunting performance by David. David is so devastatingly handsome but you can instantly tell there's something off about him. David is kind of like Norman Bates where you can never quite tell if he's joking or not, and he's so unnerving.

What I didn't love about this film was the sort of...plot twist? The reality of what David really was. It went from a mysterious thriller to an action film in the last half hour and it lost me. Maybe I had different expectations going in, thinking it would be more like...David's a total nut case here to stalk this family. But it's all very military, secret government programs etc. Which I just don't love unless it's an episode of The X-Files.

I know the film was specifically structured as a horror film, but meant to be more of a thriller, but for me that just didn't work. Maybe I need to re-watch it with fresh eyes and no expectations and I would enjoy it more. And hopefully not have to take a break half way through to watch the Jays lose.

6/10

Alright, I've got three movies to watch this weekend to keep on track and one of them is Insidious 3. The other two - I have no idea what to watch. I've gone so far off my original list. I'll just scroll through itunes and see what's new. Maybe The Final Girls?
FIND OUT ON MY NEXT POST!
My first ever cliff hanger....

Also check out this awesome new shirt I got from TeeFury

I've gotta go finish my laundry and buy some pumpkins to carve!

DAY TWENTY-ONE - American Ghost Hunter (horror movie challenge - 31 days of horror)

DAY TWENTY-ONE – AMERICAN GHOST HUNTER (2010)
I’ve waited years to see this documentary. I’m a massive fan of Ryan Buell and the Paranormal State team and obviously that’s how I became introduced to Chad Calek. Now, I’m not a huge fan of him, mainly because I originally purchased this movie and gave him my money, to which I received no DVD and was belittled by him when I tried to get a refund for no product (still haven’t received that refund, or the DVD which was originally promised to be shipped in 24 hours…two years ago). This movie kind of just cemented that fact that this guy is kind of a moron. But I love all things paranormal so I did enjoy the documentary in a sense.

Chad Calek has a past filled with hauntings and family problems. He believes that his family has been tormented by a demon for a long time. He makes some pretty big jumps in the documentary saying that his family is somehow connected to the famous Villisca Axe Murders because apparently they happened on the same date as his mom’s birthday or something? He travels, with his friend Ryan Buell, back to his home town to see his mom and dad and discover what’s really going on.
When he arrives he finds that his mother is still seemingly possessed by this demon and that his brother is now being haunted as well.

My problems with this documentary are that it is very clear his mother is dealing with mental issues. She reveals that she was sexually abused by a priest when she was a child. So it doesn’t take a professional to put two and two together. She was abused by a priest, probably in the catholic religion simply because of the demon fascination, she then represses these memories and in her older age when these memories start surfacing again, she can’t handle it, and chooses to believe instead that she is being possessed by a demon.

So it feels kind of dirty to watch this because Chad is convinced it’s a demon, Ryan is convinced it’s a demon, Lorraine Warren (my sweet Queen) is convinced, and the husband is just putting his hand on her head and praying. This woman needs therapy, not an exorcism.

The brother’s hauntings don’t make any sense either. And that’s because once all of this over, and the mom is in therapy and the brother is working out and eating healthier and taking care of himself, magically all the hauntings stop. Because they probably didn’t exist in the first place. Sometimes it’s easier for us to believe in ghosts than to deal with our own problems.

BUT – aside from all that, which leaves basically nothing, the most intriguing part of this documentary is when they go visit the Villisca Axe Murder house and do an investigation. They catch some very interesting evidence and show some clips from other investigators that includes a ball rolling across a floor and then veering sharply to the left. It’s very interesting and I enjoyed that part of the film the most.

Was it worth the wait? No. As a paranormal documentary is it any good? Not really. But as a huge paranormal fan, I didn’t feel like I wasted my time watching it, and I got to enjoy some ghostly evidence.

DAY TWENTY - Doc of the Dead (horror movie challenge - 31 days of horror)

DAY TWENTY - DOC OF THE DEAD (2014)

So this obviously isn’t a horror film. But it’s my list and I do what I want. I’ve also wanted to see this documentary for a while and boy was it a joy to watch! Doc of the Dead was written and directed by Alexandre Philippe and focuses on the zombie genre as a whole. Where did it begin? How did it get so big? What does “zombie” even mean?

It’s really well put together and has a great host of people talking about zombie culture including Simon Pegg, George A. Romero, Bruce Campbell, Tom Savini, Greg Nicotero, Robert Kirkman and Max Brooks (just to name a few). It follows all aspects including what if zombies were real, should zombies be slow or fast, does 28 Days Later count as a zombie film? It’s all so much fun to watch, and really entertaining, funny and heartfelt.
I’ll for sure watch it again and would recommend it to anyone who’s a zombie fan, or horror fan, or just curious about why everyone’s so obsessed with the walking dead. 10/10

LOTS OF HORROR NEWS YA’LL~
Which is why I kept the review pretty short. But also reviewing a documentary is weird, I don’t know why. So let’s delve right in:

According to Bloody Disgusting, Friday the 13th has been pushed back again, this time to a Friday the 13th in 2017. This is most likely due to their search for a new writer, they’re currently accepting new scripts. Which means the 80’s throwback we all got excited about…not happening. Unless of course one of the newer scripts has the same idea. Honestly, I'm just happy they're even making another one. I even loved the 2009 reboot. I just love Friday the 13th and Jason and maybe I should write the script and send it in...right guys? guys? right?
Rings has also been pushed back from November of this year to April 1st of next year. Which makes sense considering its October and all we’ve got is a set photo that looks like me when I get out of bed every morning. But you know what, that’s okay with me. Take your time with the movie and make it right ya know? I’m willing to wait if it means it gives the movie a better chance of being amazing.

We’ve also been getting a tone of stuff about the new X-files event/mini-series/sequel etc. Yesterday we got a great new teaser trailer, and we’ve gotten a tone of awesome posters, set photos, and show photos. I’M SO EXCITED! It did film here, but I wasn’t able to catch any of the filming because of work and never leaving my house. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are back as Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scully. In the “pilot” episode they will be taking on a case of a possible alien abductee. My body is ready.
Check out the new teaser:

Stay Spooky ya'll!
